Maggie was picked up by Animal Control in the Fall of 2009 when a good Samaritan reported kids were trying to lure her away from her six newborn puppies so they could steal them.
Lucky for Maggie and her puppies, she was not to be fooled, and the entire family came to live at The Simon Foundation. All of Maggie's puppies went on to find wonderful homes last Thanksgiving, but like so many other mom's, Maggie is still here.
We do not know much else about Maggie's past, other than we believe her to be at least 7 years old. What we do know is that she is incredibly sweet and gentle, and we love her very much.
Sadly, she is currently suffering from a knee injury that may require her to have surgery. Right now she is on medical management for pain and living in a large crate in our grooming room. She doesn't seem too bothered by her temporary quarters. In fact, she's enjoying them. She gets to see all the other dogs when they come in to get their baths, a minimum of four walks a day, her food is hand-delivered to her in her crate, and she sleeps curled up in a big plush comforter. Each day we fold it up nicely, and she moves it around to make a nest.
If Maggie does require surgery, she'll need a nice quiet home to recover in. Are you willing to open your home to Maggie? If so, please submit your application to adopt her today.
